Vinteloper ‘Adelo’ 2010

Vinteloper Adelo Vinteloper Adelo 2010  photoI recently sampled the 2010 Vinteloper Adelo as part of a ‘New Vintage’ dinner where wine maker, David Bowley, explained that the wine’s interesting name was derived from the Latin root meaning ‘obscure’.

This is, undoubtedly, a fitting moniker for a wine comprised of Touriga from Langhorne Creek, Shiraz from McLaren Vale and Pinot Noir from the Adelaide Hills.

The wine consumer’s continued lust for the obscure also meant that the Adelo stood out from the impressive Vinteloper line-up long before it was even poured into the glass. Fortunately, once in the glass, the wine proved well worth the attention.
